To write effectively means that the writer has a clear idea of what he/she wants to say, and that the writer communicates his/her ideas in formats and structures that are effective and uses appropriate grammatical language and forms.

Good writing requires good editing, and learning to write well requires that you learn how to edit. I can teach you to write as I edit your papers.

Editing demands more than ensuring the appropriate use of grammar and spelling, though these are certainly important elements of good writing. Good editing also looks for a clear statement of purpose (thesis) and a structure that develops that thesis. Writing well necessitates the presentation of a clear idea, appropriate topic development and refinement of thoughts.

I have been assigning and reading papers as a teacher for forty years on both the high school and college level. I have earned a Bachelors and Masters degree in English and a doctorate in education. I taught high school English classes for eighteen years at all academic levels, and for the past twenty years I have taught in the Education Department on the University level. I teach teachers and those who would be teachers.

I have published seven books and dozens of articles for academic journals. For the past eight years I have edited an online journal. I have read and edited thousands of student papers.
